Understanding Levels of Competence
When evaluating a worker, assessors can assign one of three competency levels
Instructor/Assessor
The worker is fully competent and capable of testing other employees.
System Behavior:
If selected for all criteria, their overall status becomes Instructor/Assessor. If selected for only some criteria, their overall status defaults to Competent. An admin setting determines if this status automatically grants them assessor permissions for this specific competency
In the Settings tab for Competencies that allows an administrator to select whether the assessment of a Worker as Instructor/Assessor will automatically add the Worker as an Assessor to that specific Competency.
If you as an administrator do not wish your Assessors to be able to list others they assess as Assessors for Competencies, you can turn that setting off!
Competent
The worker meets all required safety and skill criteria.
System Behavior:
The worker is marked in green text as Competent on compliance dashboards.
Requires Supervision:
The worker needs additional assistance or monitoring.
System Behavior:
If an assessor marks even a single criterion as Requires Supervision, the worker's overall status fails to achieve competence and appears in red text as Requires Supervision.
Worker Guide: How to Request an Assessment
Workers can proactively ask for a skills evaluation once they meet the baseline requirements. You will only be able to submit one request per competency
Assessor Guide: How to Evaluate a Worker (From Worker Dash)
Employees designated as official assessors will receive an email notification and a dashboard alert when a review is requested.
📋Option 1: Access Pending Requests
Click on the Competencies card on your Worker Dashboard.
Navigate to the Assess Others tab.
Click on a pending request. You can choose to Assess or Cancel.
📈Option 2: Run an Unscheduled Assessment
If you want to evaluate someone who didn't submit a formal request, click the Assess Others button in the top-right corner and select the worker.
✉️Complete the Form
Rate each performance criterion as either Competent or Requires Supervision.
Add optional text notes to individual criteria blocks to provide context.
Remember: The worker must pass all points to be marked overall Competent.
Click Submit.
🗂️Review History
After submission, you will return to your Assessments page.
Click on any historical entry to review details, download the latest assessment sheet, or download the full Assessment History report across all timelines for that worker.
Admin Guide: Managing Assessments
How to Assess a Worker From the Admin Dash
Administrators can bypass standard worker queues to log a direct assessment.
Open the Competencies component and select the target skill template.
Click the Worker Compliance tab and click on the specific worker’s name.
Review their current Assessment Status and Prerequisites box:
Note: An admin must explicitly assign this prerequisite to the worker's specific Position folder before they can complete it
Click Start Assessment in the top-right corner.
(If prerequisites are missing you wont be able to proceed with the assessment).
Select a status for each criterion. (Note: The "Instructor/Assessor" button will only appear if enabled in your global Competencies Settings tab).
Click Submit in the top-right corner.
How to Request an Assessment on Behalf of a Worker
Admins can manually initiate a request to pair up workers with evaluators. This helps get teams certified quickly without relying on individual worker log-ins.
Method A: From the Main Competencies Level - (Bulk Assessment Tool)
Go to the Competencies component and click the Assessments tab. (This screen tracks all active, historical, and pending requests across the system).
Click Request Assessment in the top-right corner.
Complete the pop-up selection window
Select your desired Assessor (you can only select one evaluator per request pool). - Select Continue
Requests created from here will include an automatic comment indicating that this assessment request has been created from the Bulk Assessment tool.
Method B: From Within a Specific Competency File
Open the specific competency file you want to target.
Navigate to its individual Assessments tab.
Click Request Assessment in the top-right corner.
Complete the split-box selection exactly like the steps above. (Note: Because you are already inside a specific competency folder, the top dropdown selector will be hidden automatically).
Requests created from here will include an automatic comment indicating that this assessment request has been created from the Bulk Assessment tool.
📬 System Behavior: Submitting an Assessment Request creates an instant notification icon on the designated Assessor's Worker Dashboard and sends them an automated alert to complete the task.
